“In this moment of political, moral, and theological crisis in America we are deeply concerned about the resurgence of white nationalism, racism, and xenophobia; misogyny; attacks on immigrants, refugees, and the poor; the regular purveying of falsehoods and consistent lying by the nation’s highest leaders; and moves toward autocratic political leadership and authoritarian rule.
We invite you to join us for a service of prayer and gospel proclamation, followed by a procession to the White House and a silent prayerful candlelight vigil as a witness that the church will not be complicit, but faithful.

Weather:
The procession and vigil will take place rain or shine with the exception of lightning. Please prepare appropriately for the weather — bring rain jackets and/or umbrellas if rain is forecast.
Restrooms:
There will be no public restrooms at the White House. Attendees are encourage to plan ahead and use the restroom before the service or in the brief window between the service and the start of the procession.
Bags and other belongings:
We encourage everyone to keep bags and belongings to a minimum. You will have to take all belongings with you for the procession and the vigil. Due to the proximity to the White House you must keep your bags and belongings on your person at all times. Failure to do so could jeopardize the procession and vigil.

Candles:
We will provide battery candles for the first 1,000 guests at the service. Please do not bring flame lighting candles — only battery candles.
Clergy:
Are encouraged to wear robes, collars, or stoles.
Signs and Posters:
We discourage folks from bringing signs to the procession and vigil.

The nearest metro stations to both National City Christian Church and the White House are:
– Orange/Blue Line: McPherson Square and Farragut West
